The CSAFE Kick-Off event will take place on October 26 and 27 in Ames, Iowa, where Iowa State University is located. The event begins on Monday at 5:30 pm with a reception and a poster session, followed by a lecture by Prof. Stephen Fienberg (Carnegie Mellon University). On Tuesday morning, ISU President Stephen Leath, and Director of Special Programs at NIST Dr. Richard Cavanagh will introduce ISU and CSAFE. Presentations by distinguished guests including Barry Scheck (Co-Founder, The Innocence Project), Dr. Anil Jain (Michigan State University) and Prof. A. Philip Dawid (University of Cambridge, United Kingdom) will be followed by lunch and a presentation of CSAFE and its research, outreach and education objectives. Parallel technical sessions will take place between 1:30 and 3:30 pm, when the event adjourns.

Anyone who has an interest in forensic sciences is encouraged to attend and participate in the kick-off activities. While the objective of the event is to introduce CSAFE to the scientific, forensic and law communities, this will be an excellent opportunity to meet potential collaborators in academia, law and law enforcement, and industry and to hear about interesting scientific problems in forensics. Students and young scientists are particularly encouraged to attend and to get involved in CSAFE activities.
