Last week the Hartford CT judge ordered Alfred Swinton, who had been imprisoned since 1991 freed.  For coverage of Mr. Swinton walking free, see this article in the Harford Courant.  He said: “Freedom, freedom. It feels so good.”  New DNA tests on a range of evidence, including scrapings from the victims fingernails and DNA testing of saliva from the bite mark used to convict him, now excluded him.  “At this stage there is virtually no evidence to support a conviction and a mountain of evidence that proves his innocence,” attorney Maura Barry Grinalds said in arguing for release.  While the conviction was reversed, prosecutors so far state that they will investigate whether to pursue a new trial.
