DNA evidence found on the taser of police officer Michael Slager could potentially provide an obstacle in the prosecution of Slager for the fatal shooting of unarmed citizen Walter Scott in a traffic stop. Slager had asserted that Scott had taken his taser and Slager fired his gun in response.

“When lab experts later examined the Taser, they picked up signs of DNA from both men. But in a forensics report, the State Law Enforcement Division never noted precisely where on the Taser the investigators found Scott’s DNA.”
